God loves walking with His people.

Let’s Take A Walk

Many of us love taking walks. It’s great exercise, and it gets us out of the house and gives us some fresh air. It helps us organize our thoughts. It calms us down when we’re upset. But the best part of taking a walk is that it’s relaxing. As a Christian we’ve heard that it’s great to walk with Christ. It’s peaceful and it’s a good time to give our stress and anxieties to Him.

I’m sure you’ve read or heard the poem called “Footprints in the Sand.” It talks about walking with God and finding that He helped us when we needed it most. Just like He helped David in Psalm 23:4 (KJV): “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for Thou art with me; Thy rod and Thy staff they comfort me.” Unfortunately, most Christians do not fully realize the value of walking with Christ.

Some have had a taste of walking with friends, but for some reason still prefer to walk alone. Walking alone is not as much fun as walking with a friend. We can’t talk to anyone or share what we see. If we fall or stumble there is no one to help us up.

Considering all this, some still want to walk by themselves. Why? The Bible tells us in Micah 6:8: “He has showed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the Lord require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” So the Bible tells us to walk with God for our benefit!

God loves walking with His people. In Leviticus 26:12 He says, “I will walk among you and will be your God, and ye shall be My people.” He offers to be with those who want Him as their God, yet many still don’t want to walk with Him. They may go along with Him in their mind, but their hearts are not with Him. They are Christians, but they just aren’t following the Master and walking with Him. They like to explore other paths on their own.

After seeing all this – that it’s much better to walk with God than to walk alone, and that He wants to walk with us – let’s strive to constantly walk with God and follow Him on the Christian pathway.

There are many things to do when we walk with God. Daily talking to Him, or prayer, is a tremendous way to include Him in our life. Another way is to follow His steps as they are clearly presented to us in His Word. Thirdly, worshiping Him with others in church is a great way to start each week’s walk with Him.

All these ways help us draw closer in our walk with God. Don’t go off on another path that looks more interesting, especially if you are walking alone! You don’t know the dangers that could be ahead, and God may have a better way for you to travel.

So travel with a friend – the greatest friend, Jesus – and He’ll guide you and protect you as you walk with Him.
